Established in 1996.
Notsuoh (No-Tsu-Oh) was founded in 1996 as a coffee shop by an ex teacher name Jim Pirtle.
At that time the only other business open on Main Street was the LGBT cantina next door....and some closed down porno houses and pawn shops. Long before the Rice Hotel renovations and Daikin Park (formally Minute Maid and Enron Stadium)...it was open all night serving coffee and sandwiches and lots of chess boards...the décor was from the upstairs of the building...leftover detritus from 100 years of retail failures...it was a bit of a time machine...Downtown slowly revitalized and became the in destination point. Then the rail was built and everyone left downtown for midtown. Around this time Notsuoh became a bar. Boasting the original store window displays up front, a mezzanine bar, third floor rooftop patio and and a large third floor that houses a bar, art gallery and interactive “Dome” its not hard to see why we have survived for 30 years.
Located at 314 Main st just like the value of pi (3.14)
We are a family owned and run bar that is part art project meets business trying to make the center of a sprawling city actually have relevance.
Notsuoh has been home to artist, film makers, poets, musicians and more. We continue to be an offbeat unique bar and venue filled with what we love the most: experiences, art, and people.
