Notsuoh 21st Anniversary party May 6
with the The Bad Credit Band record release Walkin' Dog's
plus an open mic poetry event and many surprises
21 years....
I was 35 and using the lessons from Zocalo theater on how to run a DIY business/art space .... take risks and be humble
To have a coffee shop you need a coffee pot... to have a bar you need a beer... to have an art space you need artists then figure out the other stuff as you go along
The only real reason it has been here for 21 years is that i bought the land and managed to keep it through several tries to force me out... I could ride the waves and troughs if survival was the top objective... I also never got business partners or investors keeping independent
It is hard to stay fresh and keep interest and remain relevant
I also know what I am not... not for wedding receptions or corporate happy hour but artists which means a lot of risk and shaky personalities....drama and dysfunction... suicide and pain
It is a bitter sweet place and my random outbursts of drinking and frustration ...my arrogance at times for better or worse....it is an authentic and interesting place
