NOTICE- We are currently meeting at Notsuoh, upstairs!
There is a temporary door code we may use during the event- message Johnathan Felton on facebook if you need the code. Thanks
Weekly Life Drawing sessions at Notsuoh, 314 Main, upstairs. 8-11pm, Thursday evenings. $10 model fee per participating artist. Bring your own art materials. Please arrive early so you may find parking easier, and to make the most of your drawing session. Have a drink at the bar, come upstairs, and have fun practicing your life drawing skills with us!
The event is open to artists of all levels who have a serious interest in rendering the nude human figure. We simply provide time with an art model in a studio setting where artists sketch. While we provide some structure to the session, there is no set theme- we like to mix things up, and encourage models to be creative in their poses and any props they may bring, and have different models each time.
Pease bring your own (traditional, or digital) art supplies. While a model stage, lighting, and seating are provided, tables may not be available, so please bring your own portable easel and drawing board if you have the need.
Poses are timed. As the session progresses, we begin the first hour with a number of short, 2 minute gestures, and then a few 5 minute sketches, transition to a few 10 minute sketches in the second hour, and conclude the last hour with a few 15 or 20 minute drawings. We also take a 10 to 15 minute intermission each hour. .
PARKING-
Parking and traffic can be difficult Downtown if there are large events happening like sports, conventions, or concerts. So try to arrive early so you have time to find parking. Also you may need time to get a drink, take a break, or set up. Parking Meters Downtown are FREE after 7pm, but they fill up fast, so arrive early! There are a number of paid parking lots or garages close by that charge different rates. You can usually find somewhere to park around the corner or a couple blocks away. Be prepared to likely walk a few blocks to your car on busy nights. If parking is an issue, please consider taking other modes of transit into Downtown like Cabs, Uber, Lyft, Metro Bus, Metro Rail, or Bicycling.
*We usually meet at the same place each week- above Notsuoh (314 Main, Downtown), but our venue does change on occasion or we may cancel due to circumstances like holidays, severe weather conditions, or to allow for other events in the space. I wil try to post any changes or cancellations in advance.
